Healthy Communities Outreach Series

Healthy Communities Outreach Series logo imageWhat makes a healthy community?  How can we continue to make our community strong?  Join us for three seminars on Healthy Communities.

Our goal is to help educate the greater Warwick region about what constitutes a healthy community, create an understanding of the community strategic planning process, and get involved in this process in 2023.

Session 1:  What Makes a Healthy Community?
September 12, 2022 noon-1pm
Alice Yoder, Executive Director/Community Health – Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health
Creating a healthy community where everyone has the ability to thrive encompasses quality healthcare AND, so much more. This presentation will focus on the key elements needed in all communities that promote health and well-being for everyone.

Session 2:  Places 2040 – Countywide and Regional Planning: Setting the Stage for Healthy Cooperation.
October 17, 2022 noon-1pm
Kip Van Blarcom, AICP – Director for Planning Implementation, Lancaster County Planning Department.
Porter Stevens, AICP – Senior Planner, Lancaster County Planning Department
This session will focus on

  • Encouraging residents to see places as a whole rather than focusing on the boundaries that divide them.
  • Creating the right conditions for a healthier community. For the Lancaster County Planning Department, this means encouraging regional cooperation and consistency in land-use planning.
  • Building stronger, more resilient communities by embracing opportunities and addressing challenges together.
