Do: Maintain you septic tank according to DEP regulations. Have it pumped by a septage hauler as often as recommended by the Sewage Enforcement Officer, or when the sludge on the bottom of the tank reaches a depth of 3 feet. Inspect the baffles every time the tank is pumped. Keep a record of pumping, inspections and other maintenance to the system. Make sure the pumpings (or septage) are disposed of properly. Ask the septage hauler. Practice water conservation so the absorption area stays drier and better able to handle waste water. Repair dripping faucets; run washing machines and dishwashers only when full; use water-saving devices. Divert rain spouting and surface water away from the septic system. Call your municipal Sewage Enforcement Officer (SEO) if your water usage goes up dramatically. You may need a larger septic tank and/or larger drain field. Call your SEO is you think there might be a problem with your system Don't: Content Last Modified on 5/28/2010 11:12:40 AM Warwick Township Home Back Printable Version Text-Only Full-Screen eMail Next |
