Warwick Township
(Lancaster County)
Water Level Survey

As part of their Northern Lancaster County water budget study, the Susquehanna River Basin Commission (SRBC) will be performing a water level survey during the Fall of 2003 and Spring of 2004.  Survey data will be used to make a map of the water table during the Fall, when it is low, and Spring, when it is high.  The difference between the two measurements sets will be used to help evaluate the seasonal change in aquifer storage, and aid in the determination of groundwater flow directions.  Teams of 2-3 individuals will be visiting area residences to measure the water levels.  Water levels will be measured with an electronic water-tape indicating the depth to water.  In most cases the well cap is removed, the water level is measured and the cap is put back on.  The well owner will be asked for information about the well, such as depth and yield, which will be collected to aid in the interpretation of the water level data.  The survey team will leave a card with the measurement for the owner.
